Julia Lindsay (Soprano) (Paris, France 1878 - ?)

Her parents, who came from St. Louis, left her native country after the American civil war and emigrated to France. She studied singing in Paris, where she made her debut in 1903 at Grand Opéra. In 1905 she sang there the part of Constance in the première of Mozart’s "Entführung aus dem Serail" (123 years after their premiere!). She appeared there also as Sidonie in ‘’Armide’’, Marguerite in ‘’Faust’’, Elsa in ‘’Lohengrin’’ and as Eva in "Meistersingern". She remained till 1907 in this opera house and appeared with great success also at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo. With the ensemble of this opera house she made guest appearances among other things in Berlin, singing in ''La damnation de Faust'' and ‘’Don Carlo’’ (1907). She retired from the stage around 1910.
