Giuseppe Agostini (Tenor) (Verona 1870 - Abdington 1951)






In 1895 Agostini made his debut at the Teatro Municipale in  Alessandria. On 16. 5. 1898 he performed at the Walleck Theatre in  New York première of the opera ‘’La Boheme’’. In 1910 he appeared at the Teatro Massimo in  Palermo in the première of Mascagni’s opera ‘’Amica’’. He had his biggest success in North America where he appeared almost annually with the San Carlo Opera Company. In 1903 he substituted at the Metropolitan Opera for the ill Enrico Caruso in two performaces (as Rodolfo  in ‘’La Boheme’’ and as Duke in ‘’Rigoletto’’). Still in 1921 he was active with the San Carlo Opera Company. Later he taught singing in Abington.
